Molecular mechanisms of leukemogenesis. Pre-B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is predominantly a disease of childhood. Many cases are associated with a chromosomal translocation, t(1;19), that leads to expression of an abnormal, chimeric transcription factor, E2A-PBX1.

Studies being undertaken in my lab are directed at elucidating oncogenic effects mediated by this protein and mechanisms by which these are produced. Currently of particular interest are protein-protein interactions and post-translationsl modifications involving the E2A portion of the protein.
